Ok, i'll clue you in a little about streaming media technology.
17,000 people watching EVE TV at once. That's 4.25 gigabits/second of bandwidth at the 250k bitrate, or 17 gigabits/second of bandwidth at the 1000k bitrate.
Just to put this into comparison, that is the equivalent of 34,000 standard UK ADSL lines.
Using premium UK bandwidth prices, that equates to ú3.40/second, ú204/minute, ú12,240 per hour.
Maybe you can now see why they can't just "switch" back to their old system..
Any implementation takes a LOT of investment, and a LOT of thought.
It seems that Jalipo aren't prepared enough.

That is entirely dependant on the quality and the location of the pipe, as i'm sure you're aware. And a very high quality pipe is needed for a 1mbps stream on a large scale. "Renting servers" isn't sufficient in this case, since all server farms / dedicated server providers over-sell their bandwidth to make it much cheaper.

Multicast is irrelevant, since 90% of ISP's and routers don't support it. I suggest you read the article you're spamming before you start smacking me about it..
